Sherry Wickman, recent masters graduate in art therapy, finds herself back at home when she’s unable to get a job, or a relationship, or anything else worth getting out of bed for. Then she seizes an opportunity presented by her bed-ridden mother’s ex-boyfriend, Joseph. Joseph wants Sherry to try to help his son, Zack – who is suffering the aftershocks of his mother’s death. Sherry suddenly finds herself in the middle of Zack and Joseph’s family troubles, all while juggling her drunken sister Grace’s drama-filled breakup and the community’s anxiety over a tiger’s escape from the zoo.
But maybe helping all these people through their troubles is the perfect way for Sherry to work out her own problems.
Tigers Be Still is an intelligent, sharp comedy directed by SET Ensemble Member Jodi Papproth. Hannah Alden McCullough plays Sherry, the idealistic art therapist working with Zack, played by guest artist Hans Mueh. Together Sherry and Zack struggle through their family issues: Sherry with her sister Grace, played by guest artist Dalianti Moncada, and Zack with his father Joseph, played by SET Vice President Emory John Collinson.
Performances of Tigers Be Still will occur at Springs Ensemble Theatre, located at 1903 E. Cache La Poudre Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. The play runs July 19-August 5. (Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m. Please note there is no matinee on Sunday, July 22.) Seating is limited, so SET recommends making reservations early. Tickets are $15 with $10 student rush seats, when available, ten minutes prior to the show start time with a valid I.D. Please be aware this production contains adult language and sexual themes.
